Nurseries

First rooms designed for Haarlem's canal houses — dormers, sloped ceilings, and narrow stairs included.

Soft

Measuring the impossible corner

Haarlem nurseries often occupy the smallest bedroom on the bel-etage or a converted box room under the eaves. We begin every project with a full measure: ceiling height at lowest point, radiator depth, window sill height, and the width of your staircase turn.

Rest

Cot placement and circulation

A cot should sit away from direct draughts yet remain visible from the doorway. In canal houses with en-suite doors opening inward, we specify sliding panels or repositioned hinges so the room breathes without renovation.

Play

Floor space for later

Nurseries become toddler rooms within two years. We plan removable changing tables, modular shelving, and floor zones that convert to play areas without replacing every piece of furniture.

Soft

Materials and palette

We favour lime-wash paints, oiled oak, woven wool rugs, and linen curtains — materials that age gracefully in humid Dutch winters. All specifications include EUR pricing from our finds list.

Rest

Lighting for long evenings

Canal-house nurseries receive beautiful but indirect light. We layer dimmable wall lamps, a low night light, and optional blackout linen for south-facing gracht windows.
