We are a design studio, not a parenting blog, not a toy shop, and not a general contractor. We draw plans, write specifications, and coordinate with your carpenter or painter. We do not sell advice about child-rearing.
About the studio
Interior design for children's rooms in Haarlem's canal houses and narrow-stair homes.
Then
Mama Lullaby Rooms began in 2019 when founder Linde Visser measured her first nursery under a Haarlem dormer — a room barely two metres wide with a staircase landing outside the door.
She had spent a decade in residential interiors and saw a gap: children's spaces treated as afterthoughts, filled with generic furniture that fought the architecture instead of working with it.
The studio name came from a lullaby her grandmother sang in Dutch — soft, repetitive, meant for small rooms with creaking floorboards.
Now
Today we operate from Grote Markt 18, a ground-floor studio five minutes from Haarlem Centraal. We take on six to eight room projects per quarter across Haarlem, Heemstede, and Bloemendaal.
Our work spans nurseries, shared sibling rooms, play corners, reading alcoves, and built-in soft storage. Every project starts with a site measure — stair width, door swing, radiator placement, window height.
We specify materials, colours, and furniture from European makers. Prices are quoted in EUR with clear scope documents.
Next
We are developing a small reference library of canal-house room typologies — dormer nurseries, bel-etage children's rooms, and attic conversions with knee walls.
Workshop evenings for architects and estate agents are planned for autumn 2026, focused on building-code-aware children's room layouts in historic Dutch housing stock.
